Calendimaggio

A spectacular celebration of the coming of spring in the backdrop of medieval Assisi
May, Assisi
Calendimaggio takes visitors back to historical times. The townspeople dress up in period costumes and present traditional ceremonies and events that were part of life in Assisi in the past.

The festival culminates in an evening celebration. The street lamps throughout the city are switched off and you are suddenly transported back to the Middle Ages with hundreds of candle flames and torches. This original illumination, together with the period costumes, offers a completely utopian experience.
